The Challenge
The mobilization and operation of sensitive electronics and communications equipment in some of the most extreme enviroments on earth has become a challenge. The transit case has become such an integral part of the function of the equipment that it can no longer be considered simply a container.
Currently, the main focus of the case manufacturer has been the case shell itself with few resources spent on the interior design. The majority of equipment and case manufacturers leave this detail until the last minute only to discover the true complexity of this component. The primary method of control and protection has been to create an insert from expanded polyethylenes and polyurethanes. These materials are fine except that they were developed primarily for commercial packaging meant to be shipped once or twice and thrown away.
